Announcement

June 1975. Gerald officially announces that he'll be seeking re-election the following Fall.

New Hampshire

24 February. An early primary, and often a nominee predictor. Betty and Gerald hit the ground running here.

Campaigning

Betty, Gerald and the family split up to travel across the country to drum up support for the campaign.

Bicentennial Celebrations

Betty and Gerald spend most of the summer hosting bicentennial events, including a state dinner for Queen Elizabeth II.

Republican National Convention

14-20th August. The Ford's head to Kansas for a last chance to consort delegates in a heated showdown with Ronald Reagan.

Election Day

November 2nd. Betty and Gerald go home to Michigan to cast their votes. Gerald loses to Democrat Jimmy Carter.
